We really are lucky that we have one side of the family with a mountain house and one side of the family with a beach house...does it get much better than that?
This weekend we joined Gary in Topsail. It was the shrimp festival in Sneads Ferry, and it was crowded! We were also there for July 4th, but this time there were tons more people. We still had a great time though. We arrived early Saturday morning, and I of course hit the beach. Gary and Budge played golf, and that left me on the beach with a great new book.* I stayed till almost 5 reading, and people watching. Gary and Budge got back and we ordered pizza for dinner. Sunday we hit the beach for a couple hours before coming home. Hazel even took a walk down the beach with us and enjoyed splashing in the waves. Its funny how much she likes the water!
We had a great time, and it was nice to see Gary, and get to hang out! Hopefully we can make it back for one more weekend, but with football season just around the corner our weekends are getting booked up pretty fast!!
*The book I was reading (and actually finished) was aptly titled THE BEACH HOUSE by Jane Green. Great summer read! I highly recommend this one for a beach read, or just pleasure read.
